Pastor Heather Hammel

“The church is more than a building, it’s a family. When we gather together to worship God, we also gather as brothers and sisters in Christ. We support, challenge, respect, love, and care for one another. We also join together, shoulder to shoulder, serving our community and our world.”

Heather has grown up in the United Methodist Church (in Ohio) and has been active in the UMC since moving to Pennsylvania in 2006. She became a Christ Servant Minister and Certified Lay Speaker in the Eastern PA Conference of the UMC before answering God’s call into pastoral ministry in 2016. Heather’s undergraduate studies were at Ohio Wesleyan University in Theatre and English Education. She taught ninth grade English outside of Cincinnati, Ohio for four years. She is now finishing her Master of Divinity at Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Heather married Matthew Hammel (from Hempfield High School in Lancaster, PA) in September of 2000. Their first son, James, was born in Ohio in October 2005. Michael, their youngest, was born in York, PA in August of 2008. They live in Hallam, PA.
